Lake Gregory sits in Crestline in the San Bernardino Mountains. It’s the kind of place where you can bring a trout rod, walk along the lake and spend a few hours fishing without organizing a big boating trip. Rainbow trout stocking is a big part of the fishing here, and the lake’s fishing page posts plant dates so you can see what’s been stocked and what’s scheduled.
You can fish from shore or rent a fishing boat if you want to try farther out. There’s also a nature trail loop around the lake, so a visit doesn’t have to mean sitting in one spot all day. Explore the shoreline open to fishing and keep clear of the swimming areas. In summer, the swim beach and waterpark make this a mixed recreation lake rather than a secluded fishing-only spot.
The bait-and-tackle shop on San Moritz Drive is useful if you need bait, a few supplies or a rental rod. You can ask about a boat when you arrive, or book ahead through the Boathouse. If your plan is to fish at sunrise, bring your gear with you: fishing starts before the listed Boathouse rental hours.
Fishing is open year-round from sunrise to sunset. You’ll need a lake fishing pass as well as any required California fishing license. The paid parking lots are North Shore, South Beach and San Moritz Lodge; parking is separate from the fishing pass.
