It's a GREAT day for fishing.
Light winds keep casting manageable, though cold water may slow feeding.
Substantial cloud cover may reduce glare and help fish feed beyond dawn and dusk.
Winds around 4 mph in the morning and 5 mph in the afternoon. A light breeze should keep casting manageable while adding some surface ripple.
Estimated water temp around 44°F is on the cold side; fish metabolism slows, so expect a slower bite.

Big Bear Lake sits in the San Bernardino Mountains, with rainbow trout a big part of its fishing appeal. Bass, catfish, bluegill and crappie also call it home, so you don’t have to make every visit a trout trip. The season matters: trout can be spread around the lake in spring, while summer often sends them looking for deeper, cooler water toward the western end.
For a shore outing, Boulder Bay Park at 39080 Big Bear Boulevard is one place to start. There’s a fishing dock, picnic tables and restrooms, so it works as a place to spend some time rather than just a roadside stop. It’s one public access option among others around the lake. Private docks are different—ask permission rather than assuming you can fish from them.
If you want to get onto the water, you can carry a kayak or canoe in at Boulder Bay after the required inspection and permit. For a boat on a trailer, check the East/Carol Morrison and West/Duane Boyer ramps separately; both aren’t necessarily available on the same day. Local marinas also rent boats if you don’t have your own.
There are tackle shops around the lake if you need bait or want to ask what’s been working lately. Lake-use permits apply to boats, kayaks and fishing float tubes, separately from your fishing license. Keep that in mind if you’re deciding between a bank session and bringing a small craft.
